Security & Public Safety [L-202]

Kingsborough’s public safety staff strives to provide an environment that fosters the opportunity and the freedom for the entire Kingsborough community to grow intellectually while in the pursuit of educational excellence. Dedicated to a community-oriented approach to policing and campus safety, the department is responsible for many aspects of campus security including crime prevention, law enforcement, subsequent investigation, emergency preparedness, asset protection, and campus access control. Several public safety officers are state-certified emergency medical technicians (EMTs) trained to respond to health emergencies on campus.

Anyone concerned about a student and his or her behavior should make an Assessment and Care Team (ACT) referral. These referrals were created to identify, investigate, assess, refer, monitor and take action in response to behaviors exhibited by Kingsborough students that may pose a threat to the college community. ACT will assess the situation and make recommendations for action. For more information go to the college website at http://www.kbcc.cuny.edu/. Public Safety escorts are available daily, 24-hours a day, seven (7) days a week to all students, faculty, and staff on campus. If you are working late on campus call Extension 5069 for an escort to the parking lot or bus stop 15 minutes before you need to leave.

In case of emergency, call 7777 from any campus phone or use one of the many emergency pull-box stations.
