STOP 12: Art Museum
Without art, how is one supposed to connect to the community? Art expresses action and reaction to the world around us, and The Kingsborough Art Museum—KAM--offers exhibitions, lectures, and other events designed to connect students to the world of art and ideas.
In addition to its annual Faculty and Student Exhibitions, KAM brings the work of local and internationally-recognized artists to campus, providing opportunities for students not only to see great contemporary art, but also to meet and talk with today’s working artists.
The Kingsborough Art Museum curates vibrant, insightful, and challenging exhibitions that complement well the curriculum of the Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Art History programs.
One of the highlights at KAM is the annual Rarebit Animation Festival, where student and faculty animators from across CUNY screen their short animated films. Perhaps the most popular event, however, is the Annual Student Art Exhibition, where the talents and hard work of our art students are celebrated and admired by the campus community.
Faculty from the many disciplines on campus are encouraged to bring student groups. In order to see the many parallels and connections between ideas and visual images. Admission to the Kingsborough Art Museum is free, and all are welcome to visit this cultural hub on campus.
